gravy - quick and tasty real gravy

Gravy made out of real fresh ingredients is a very special taste, but al that boiling and reducing seems a real pain to me. This one is cooked in less than 15 minutes.

It is wheat-free and gluten-free, unlike many gravies, as well as being my favourite.

Ingredients

  • oil
  • one onion, chopped small
  • small apple, chopped small
  • 3-4 mushrooms, chopped small
  • 1-2 sticks celery, chopped small
  • 1 teaspoon chopped fresh ginger (optional)
  • 1/4 tin of baked beans
  • 1 tablespoon of yeast extract (eg Marmite)
  • black pepper
  • boiling water

Method

  • Fry onions in oil until soften
  • Stir fry in the apple and vegetables until softened
  • Mix in the baked beans, ginger, pepper and yeast extract
  • Add boiling water until it looks like soup
  • Blend with a hand-blender and serve
