Scotty's Bar and Nigel, March 2008 Plagne Centre

Scotty's has a great side benefit from being a British place - it's veggie-friendly and easy to explain vegan food desires in whatever language you choose.

It's fun and funky, with regular live music, and live sport on TV to avoid or watch as your preference dictates. There is a bright and airy interior plus an outside decking area right on the piste.

On the standard menu there are spicy potato wedges with salsa (ask them to leave out the guacamole and sour cream if vegan) and pizzas, which they can do without cheese and have a lovely big bottle of chilli oil to pour on top.

There is often something good on the specials board. During our Veggie Snow 2008 week there we had a softly spiced Moroccan chickpea and tomato soup, a roast vegetable wrap with amazing home-made humous (we asked them to leave out the cheese) and some Vegan Thai Rice cakes put on when they knew it was our last day out there.

On top of that, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays are usually curry nights. We told them our group would be coming along (you can't book) and they laid on 2 vegan curries with home-made naan bread, as well as popadoms, chutney and rice. Yum!
