Bagus Cafe - Tignes

popular onmi fusion restaurant with character

Bagus is not nearly as good for vegans as it was in 2007/8, but it is still a good place to go with excellent customer service.

A funky place where booking for groups at major meal times is essential. Make sure you see the a la carte menu as well as the lunch menu to get a full choice. Leave the barren veggie desert of Val D'Isere and come to this oasis in Tignes.

The staff are humourous, attentive, and allow you to work with the menu, such as asking for cheese to be replaced by something else of your choice. If your French is not up to much, their English is. The cuisine is superb, their coconut veggie curry is no longer vegan though. We recommend the big veggie burritos, where artichokes make a nice swap for the cheese. If you want to add spice to anything, their on-table chilli oil is fab.

Vegans can even have dessert too. Bagus have a luscious choice of sorbets and creme de marrons (chestnut puree) on hand, so I asked for peach sorbet with this which was a serious taste experience.

Sadly Bagus serve fois gras, but it's nearly as ubiquitous as pizza in the French Alps, so pretty much impossible to avoid restaurants that serve this product of extreme cruelty, unless you can find an English-run place.
