<title>the 2011 skiing and snow boarding trip - goggles and nuts</title>
  <link>http://www.veggiesnow.org/events/1898.html</link>
<description>We've got hold of a lovely apartment for a sunny late season ski trip to the snow-sure resort of Tignes. It's ski-in ski-out, with ski and boot lockers right by the doors, so no hefting your equipment about every day! There's also a sauna, steam room and laundry in the chalet-style apartment block. We have a south facing balcony and 2 beds in each room, with lots of bathrooms. But I can only book it with your deposits - &#163;100pp. The total accommodation price will be only about &#163;225pp unless the Euro increases in value drastically, so that's a really great price. So if you want to come, Contact Sophie right now, as there are very few places remaining. We'll all be catering for each other, cooking and cleaning in pairs, so less confident cooks can help another person on their cooking night. It's an arrangement for people who like to muck in and do their bit, and worked a dream last year, as well as being much cheaper than catered accommodation. All the food will be vegan, so good for all of us. Skiing isn't cheap, but this is a great value way of being in one of the best resorts in the world, with good train access as well as fabulous vegan meals every night! To get the best big group places you have to book early, as they are rare indeed. And that means the whole group booking now. Contact us now if you are interested and are the joining in kind of person. It's a Saturday to Saturday booking. When this is full that's it - as small groups are fun. Share our holiday We open our own annual holiday to share with people wanting great veggie food in a fantastic location. Beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders are all welcome - there is bound to be another person of similar ability to go to lessons or hit the slopes with. If you are on your own we can put you in a room with someone. Every trip manages to be even better than the last - we all have a fantastic time! Once you have booked, take a look at our essential pre-hol check list. We'll have exclusive use of the apartment, all the food will be vegan and suitable for everyone, from vegans to conventional types. Vegans, vegetarians and friends always welcome. the details One week (7 nights accommodation and up to 8 days on the slopes, depending on which train you take) Staying in a well-located ski-in ski-out apartment with a sauna, with fabulous skiing and boarding. Bed linen and towels are included in the price, which is a rare thing in a French apartment. The deposit is &#163;100 per person. We'll need this on booking from all who want to come. Electronic bank transfer is simplest. Accommodation price will be about &#163;225 per person total (so &#163;125 to pay in February). Travel is possible by Eurostar seated train directly from London to the resort station overnight or during the day, or by sleeper from Paris. You can get 8 days skiing/boarding instead of 6 if you travel overnight. costs will include: * &#163;225 accommodation per person, depending on exchange rates. * &#163;150-220 return train fares Eurostar direct trains from St Pancras (seated day and night options) are on sale from 6th July 2010, with cheapest fares selling first. That means no train change all the way to the resort station of Bourg St Maurice. It's easy to book on line, and you can buy the outward and return portions at the same time. Sophie may offer to book this for a group of you if transfer sufficient funds at the same time as your deposit, then you'd be seated together. The alternative sleeper from Paris option goes on sale at 11pm on New Year's eve, so be prepared to be by a computer then if you want the cheap fares. Again, you can do it yourself on line, and you buy the Eurostar to Paris part a month before that on line, and the return portions a week after the outward ones - so basically you buy on line 4 evenings in the year. Traveling overnight both ways means you get 8 days in resort rather than 6. There's also one free parking space, and if you group together to drive that's eco-friendly too. * c. &#163;25 return efficient public bus ride or shared taxi to resort. * c. &#163;185 (Euro 222.50) for 6 days lift pass - less for beginners who don't need one at first, more for more days * from &#163;65 for 6 days equipment hire Just google for ski hire in Tignes Le Lac. We got 50% off at Intersport near the accommodation in 2010, and are likely to get this again in 2011. * &#163;60-100 communal vegan food. Shared food for daily breakfast, tea &#x26; supper will be &#163;50-100 for the week. You'll need extra for your independent lunches, and the odd drink or meal out - it's nice to make your own sarnies and eat them on the mountain with a great view, especially as a plate of chips on the mountain could set you back 7 Euro. * ski / snowboarding lessons You'll need lessons if you are a beginner, and it's up to you to book lessons if you want some, whatever your level. We favour the British-run schools, but the choice is yours, such as Ultimate. There are many schools in Tignes, book one in Le Lac or Lavachet near where we'll be. * Most importantly, you'll need to have your own snow sports travel insurance . Book it when you book your holiday, using whatever insurance company you prefer. Make sure it covers any overnight travel as well as time in resort. * security deposit and taxes Also with self-catering places there's a security deposit payable on arrival in resort which you get back a couple of weeks' later as long as we leave the place as we found it. It's about 50 Euro per person. There'll also be a per adult local tax of &#163;7-10 per person for the week to pay in Euro on arrival. environmental travel Like most veggies, we care about the environment. It's particularly key for skiers and boarders to stop climate change, as otherwise we'll end up with nowhere to go in Europe. So we book locations with excellent coach and/or train travel options, which are far better for the planet and your own stress levels than flying. Note that if you go there by car sharing with others this may be the cheapest option and just as eco-friendly as the train if there are 4 in the car. Both the driving and over-night train options give you the possibility of 8 days skiing and snow-boarding, making the holiday blissfully longer with plenty of time to get good at sliding down snowy mountains. No one in our group will fly to join the trip as Veggie Snow is eco-friendly. show your interest Get in touch right away to have a chat and put your deposit down. We get this apartment by booking well in advance. The 2011 trip will be filled soon. Why do we run these trips? It actually costs us more to run these trips then just to have our own holiday without you, so you might want to know why. Where: Somewhere in France Somewhere in France, Somewhere in France, on Sat 2nd Apr 2011 @ 09:00 until Sat 9th Apr 2011 @ 18:00. Contact: Sophie Fenwick-Paul via website.</description>
