the 2010 skiing and boarding trip - cheapest yet!

No places left since September - ask to join the waiting list!
It's France again in the high snow-sure resort of Tignes. I'm dreaming already of those long sunny days with lots of snow. We'll save money despite the strong Euro, booking a self-catering chalet. We'll all look after each other on a great value holiday. That means we all take turns to cook/clean. After all veggies are often great at cooking and those who aren't can offer to chop and clear up. Most nights someone else will be cooking for you. We'll do a food kitty to cover costs.
Contact us now if you are interested and are the joining in kind of person - we've booked a lovely self-catering chalet with twin en suite rooms and a sauna, only 150m from the pistes. It's a Saturday to Saturday booking. Accom about £260 per person at current exchange rates. When this is full that's it - as small groups are fun.

We open our own annual holiday to share with people wanting great veggie food in a fantastic location. Beginner, intermediate and advanced skiers and boarders are all welcome - there is bound to be another person of similar ability to go to lessons or hit the slopes with. If you are on your own we can put you in a room with someone. Every trip manages to be even better than the last - we all have a fantastic time!
Once you have booked, take a look at our essential pre-hol check list.
We'll have exclusive use of the chalet, all the food will be vegan and suitable for everyone, from vegans to conventional types. Vegans, vegetarians and friends always welcome.
the details
- One week (7 nights accommodation and up to 8 days on the slopes, leaving Friday pm arriving back in London Sunday am)
- Staying in a well-located chalet with a sauna, with fabulous skiing and boarding.
- The deposit is £150 per person. We'll need this from all who want to come on booking. Electronic bank transfer is simplest.
- Accommodation price will be about £260 per person, and food for daily breakfast, tea & supper will be £75-100 for the week.
- Train fare will be from £100-250 per person depending on which train you want and how lucky we are when booking. You can save even more by having a chair instead of a couchette in the sleeper. Sometimes you can even get a first class couchette for this price! transfer bus about £12 each way from station to resort.
- Travel by sleeper train or drive. You can get 8 days skiing/boarding.
- I'll be asking for an additional £25 per person for Veggie Snow fund-raising for good causes (we donate to vegan free food fairs, national veggie and animal charities). This makes it all worth while doing all the work of researching and booking the trip.
- So total cost of accommodation, food and travel from London will be about £550-600 , not much more than half the cost of catered chalet accommodation.
Extra costs may include:
- Equipment hire - we like Ski Republic who do 2 for 1 hire deals in resort, but there are many other firms and most do big discounts if you book on line - just google for ski hire in Tignes Le Lac.
- lift pass - if you are a beginner there are free beginners lifts which will do you for a day or two before you need to buy a pass.
- Ski or snow-boarding school - you'll need lessons if you are a beginner, and it's up to you to book lessons if you want some, whatever your level. We favour the British-run schools, but the choice is yours. There are many schools in Tignes, book one in Le Lac where we'll be.
- The odd drink out and lunch time snack - it's nice to make your own sarnies and eat them on the mountain with a great view, especially as a plate of chips on the mountain could set you back 7 Euro.
Most importantly, you'll need to have your own snow sports insurance. Book it when you book your holiday with whatever company you prefer.
Also with self-catering places there's a security deposit payable on arrival in resort which you get back a couple of weeks' later as long as we leave the place as we found it. It's about 112 Euro per person.
environmental travel

Like most veggies, we care about the environment. It's particularly key for skiers and boarders to stop climate change, as otherwise we'll end up with nowhere to go in Europe. So we book locations with excellent coach and/or train travel options, which are far better for the planet and your own stress levels than flying.
Note that if you go there by car sharing with others this may be the cheapest option and just as eco-friendly as the train if there are 4 in the car. The over-night sleeper gives you 8 days skiing and snow-boarding, making the holiday blissfully longer with plenty of time to get good at sliding down snowy mountains.
No one in our group will fly to join the trip as Veggie Snow is eco-friendly.
