La Rosiere Resort Information

Here's handy info for the resort, particularly in relation to the Veggie Snow 2007 trip.

Equipment hire ideas

If you need to hire equipment, you can sort that out on the Sunday morning. You do need to get up early for that, espec if have lessons. Even if you book ahead you still have to collect & fit the equipment on the Sunday!

The default option is where SkiBeat get a special deal for us.

I have been told they use Intersport, which you can also get a bigger discount from by booking ahead on line (see below). The benefit of going here (Intersport main shop in the centre of La Rosiere - the Le Valaisan shop apparently) is that a SkiBeat rep may be with you which is particularly handy for beginners and people who get lost easily.

Alternatively you can choose another hire company (there are many there) - by whim, on-line discount, location or because they are not so horribly busy that morning.

The hire shops (location de matériel) are listed on the La Rosiere website. click on "Situation sur plan" to see where they are in the village. Our chalet is to the right, in that small circle of road on the mountain, and there is a bus into central La Rosiere 1850, where most of the ski schools start, and where you can also lift&ski/board to from the chalet once you have equipment & ability!

The ski schools are listed too. so you can click on "Situation sur plan" for them too, though note this is where their office is not their class meeting point which will be on the slopes. If you have to pay on arrival the office is where you would go first.

Booking Equipment in Advance

Some hire shops offer large discounts (20-40%) if you book in advance over the Internet. These discounts can be considerably larger than the SkiBeat discount.

Booking ahead does require you to know a bit about what you want, such as ski/board length and boot size (though no doubt they would change them if you got it a bit wrong, and skis should be eye height for intermediates, a bit shorter for beginners). Look on their websites to see the offers. Here are some I know of:

Intersport (one used by SkiBeat): If you don't need to go with the SkiBeat rep you could book at the store at "pied des pistes" - foot of the slopes, as this could be handy.

Skiset is one of these: You can get particularly good Skiset discounts through the ski club of GB if you are a member. Go through their website in that case.

Twinners Discounts by booking on line:

Sport 2000 (We think this is next to the Evolution 2 office, but they have 2 shops in this complex so we are not sure which one, though they are v near eachother anyway!)

If in doubt, don't book equipment ahead. It's up to you to decide what works for you and to sort it out.
